At our hotel, you and nature take center stage. The family-run Hotel – B&B Alpenrösli – offers you everything you need to experience relaxing days. We provide the framework that you can fill with ideas and activities to achieve your sports goals, explore the surroundings, or focus on your projects.
We offer single or double rooms with private or shared bathrooms, as well as family and multi-bedrooms. Most rooms have a balcony with breathtaking views of the surrounding mountain world: Ried Glacier, Mischabel Range, or Weisshorn. Some of our rooms were completely renovated in 2022.
Nature begins right in front of our large sun terrace. We are happy to pamper you here with delicious regional dishes or drinks. For children fun begins here because Gasenried could be a big playground and there is so much to discover.
For families, Gasenried is the perfect place with barns and pastures with sheep, goats, ponies, cows, and at times alpacas that graze near the hotel. Near the end of the village, there is a large picnic area with barbecue facilities and a small playground next to a small chapel. Exciting hikes along the water channels lead you through meadows and forests to Grächen. We are happy to assist you in organizing your small or big adventures.
For sports enthusiasts, the possibilities are almost limitless. From hikes in the surroundings, high-altitude tours in the Mischabel Range to trail running on the tracks of the Ultra Tour Monte Rosa, or exploring the region on the routes of the 2019 MTB World Championships, you can start a variety of activities right outside our door. Our hotel is located on the Europaweg between Grächen and Zermatt, as well as on the Tour de Monte Rosa. We in Gasenried are the ideal place for a stopover.
Since we are also hikers, climbers, and bikers ourselves, we understand your needs, and are happy to provide you with some tips about the region.
Due to our central location, we are the perfect starting point for exploring the Matter and Saas valleys. Your Hotel is situated in a unique place and can easily reach Zermatt, Saas Fee, the Moosalp region, and much more from here in a short time.

Of course, you can experience many things in Gasenried as well. In the surrounding area, there are numerous walking and hiking trails. Gasenried serves as a starting point for many high-altitude tours in the Mischabel group to the Bordierhütte. You can explore the surroundings on a bike along the routes of the 2019 Mountainbike World Championships.
Gasenried is a unique location, yet you are close to everything that the immediate and wider area has to offer. However, the focus here is always on a connection to nature and tranquility, which quickly becomes contagious. Life is intertwined with the rhythm of nature, and our unique mountain world will also touch, allowing you to feel the special magic of this place.
Furthermore, Gasenried is the ideal “base camp” for exploring the Matter Valley. The starting points for tours to some of Switzerland’s most famous peaks are almost right at your doorstep in Gasenried – 38 four-thousandens meter peaks nd countless other peaks await you.
Grächen is easily reachable on foot, by mountain bike, or by car. There, you will find all the shops you need for daily necessities and for sports. Many charming restaurants, bars, and cafes are also available in Grächen.

Active Gasenried
In the surroundings, there is a variety of walking and hiking trails. Gasenried serves as a starting point for high-altitude tours in the Mischabel Group to the Bordier Hut. You can explore the surroundings on your bike along the routes of the 2019 Mountain Bike World Championships. Try trail running on the trails of the UTMR (Ultra Tour Monte Rosa), the Grächen mountain run, the Matterhorn Marathon, or towards Jungen. Find your personal favorite trail from a multitude of options; it will never get boring. A tennis facility and a bouldering hall can be found in St. Niklaus, just 10 to 15 minutes away by car or bus. The Matterhorn Golf Course in Täsch is a 30-minute drive by car. Gasenried is also the ideal “base camp” for exploring the immediate surroundings and the Matter Valley.
Zermatt, the Europa Hut, the Saas Valley, or the Augsbord region offer countless possibilities and are easily accessible by car, train, or bus. Täscheralp is our favorite among the “hidden gems.” The starting points for high-altitude tours to some of Switzerland’s most famous peaks are almost right on your doorstep in Gasenried – 38 four-thousanders and more peaks await you. The thermal baths of Brigerbad and Leukerbad are also conveniently reachable by car. The Aletsch region, the underground lake of St. Leonard, and the castles of Sion / Sitten, Ernen, and the Bintal are other attractive nearby excursions. Enjoy your stay in the unique nature surrounding Gasenried or explore our closer or farther surroundings. There is plenty to do!

Strolls and hikes on cleared paths through snowy forests invite you to relax and enjoy nature. In just a few minutes by car, you can reach the family-friendly ski area of Grächen. You’ll almost always find a parking spot near the cable car, and from there, it’s just a few steps to the cable car itself. Some of the most renowned ski resorts in the Alps are right at our doorstep. Explore the ski areas of Zermatt, Saas Fee, the Aletsch Arena, or Crans Montana – Our hotel is the starting point for a multitude of experiences and impressions. The starting points for many ski tours can be quickly reached from Gasenried. On well-marked trails, you can also explore our winter wonderland on snowshoes. For active relaxation, the thermal baths of Brigerbad and Leukerbad are also conveniently accessible by car. Enjoy your stay in our unique natural surroundings or discover the almost limitless possibilities of our nearby and more distant surroundings. You will surely never get bored.

ABOUT US
We come from different countries, have diverse experiences, educations, and backgrounds, but one thing unites us all – we are mountain people and we cherish every day we get to spend in our unique environment.
Helene and Ewald
The two of them are the heart and soul of the establishment as owners. They have dedicated many years to running the hotel and restaurant with passion and continue to be actively involved in serving our guests today.
Ewald
Ewald grew up in Gasenried, and he has experienced nearly everything here, walked almost every path, and performed most tasks firsthand.
He enjoys sharing his experiences and adventures, including his passion for beekeeping.
How he managed to find time for his numerous mountain tours (he even climbed a few four-thousanders in the area) alongside his many activities, he probably doesn’t even know himself. Even though he is hardly on the trails these days, he always has some tips for hikers.
Ewald also cultivates the potatoes for our rosti and raclette just below the village. He tends to them and harvests them by hand, following a tradition that has been passed down through generations.
Helene and Ewald also produce honey, vegetables, salad, and rye in Gasenried, keeping a long-standing tradition alive.
Ieva
Nature-loving, cheerful, and versatile, Ieva brings a lot of energy to our team.
Iva
Iva is indispensable to us, and the well-being of our guests is especially close to her heart. She can do it all and is always where it’s needed.
Christian
Christian, the Alsatian in Valais, combines his French roots and his experience in upscale Swiss gastronomy in Basel and Interlaken with his joy for discovering regional specialties to create a truly unique experience. He not only prepares culinary delights but is also always creatively coming up with something new.
Christian has also discovered his enthusiasm for our region, which he enjoys exploring through hikes. He visits places with the thought of finding something that can enrich his recipes and your experience.
Sonja
Sonja is responsible for all the things you might not immediately notice but that make life at Alpenrösli so enjoyable. Those who have met her will remember her good spirits and cheerful demeanor, even when things get busy. Having grown up in Gasenried and with many years of experience in her own restaurant, Sonja is always there for our guests. Creates a relaxed and cozy atmosphere.

Martin
Martin is originally from Northern Germany but has a deep passion for Gasenried. While he has a completely different profession, he joyfully contributes to the development of new ideas and projects within our team. He can also explain to you precisely why Gasenried is a “paradise” for him.
